# TBA Academy: Certification Program

The **TBA Academy** teaches what you need to do real work in The Business Assistant™. It is free for TBA customers and advisers. The lessons are here, in the knowledgebase. Certificates and exams are planned for a later release; they are not open yet.

## Start Here

Work through the lessons for the area you want. Each one tells you what you will be able to do, which knowledgebase articles to read, and a short exercise to try in a demo company. You do not need to wait for the exams to learn this material, and it is useful whether or not you ever take them.

## The Lessons

**Foundation (Certified User)**

1. Welcome to TBA
2. Signing in safely
3. Working with records
4. Business concepts you need
5. Clients
6. Items
7. Selling
8. Buying
9. Reports you will use

**Specialist areas**

- S1. Sales and Receivables
- S2. Purchasing and Payables
- S3. Items and Inventory
- S4. Accounting and Reporting
- S5. HR and Payroll
- S6. Company Administrator

**For advisers** 10. The adviser relationship 11. Getting a client started 12. Supporting clients 13. The adviser console and your business

## A Demo Company to Practice In

The exercises in the lessons use a free demo company with sample data. See [Try the Free Demo](https://theasst.com/docs/try-the-free-demo/).

## Planned: Certificates and Exams

We plan to offer free certificates that show what you can do: **Certified User**, one **Specialist** certificate for each area above, a comprehensive **Professional** certificate, and **Certified Adviser** for advisers and implementers. None of these exams is open yet, and nothing in TBA or in your adviser agreement requires a certificate. When they open, this page will say so.

The exams are being designed to be fair and practical:

- **Open reference.** You may use the knowledgebase and TBA itself. We want to test whether you can *apply* what you know, not whether you have memorized menus.
- **Timed, with the clock on our server,** so refreshing the page does not stop it.
- **Different every time.** Questions are drawn at random from a larger set and shuffled.
- **Your own work.** You take each exam yourself and do not share questions or answers.
- **A certificate with its own ID** that anyone can check, valid for a set period, which you renew by taking the exam again.

Details such as pass marks and the number of attempts may change before the exams open.
