My Tasks

Last update:

My Tasks is your personal to-do list. A task can stand on its own (“Call the accountant”) or be linked to a record in TBA (“Follow up on quote #214”). Your list also shows work you have been scheduled for on Sales/Service Orders, so everything you need to do is in one place. Open it from My Stuff → My Tasks, or from the Utility Menu.

The Task List #

The page has three controls in the sidebar:

  • Which tasks — All tasks, Current tasks (the default: what is due or active now), or All uncompleted.
  • Whose tasks — Me by default. Users who are allowed to administer everyone’s tasks can choose another person (see Users and Permissions).
  • Add new — creates a task.

Switch between four ways of seeing them:

  • List — columns for Due, Task, Notes, and Status. Click a task to open it.
  • Month, Week, and Day — a calendar. Each task appears on its due date (or its start date if it has no due date). Use the arrows to move to the previous or next period. Hover over a task to see its linked record and its full notes.

Work scheduled for you on an order appears too, marked as read-only; change it from the order itself.

A Task #

Click Add new or click a task to open it in its own window:

  • For — whose task it is (you, unless you can assign tasks to others).
  • Task — a short description.
  • Start and Due dates, and the time if it matters.
  • Completed — set the date and time when you finish it. Completed tasks drop out of Current and All uncompleted.
  • Linked to and ID# — optionally tie it to a Client, Quote, Sales/Service Order, Invoice, Vendor, Purchase Order, or Bill by choosing the type and entering its number.
  • Notes.

Save the task, or delete it from the same window.

Where Else Tasks Show Up #

Today’s tasks are on the Utility Menu, and task time counts on the Time Tracking Calendar as scheduled time.

On a Phone #

Tasks in the list view appear as cards. The Month view is a compact grid showing how many tasks fall on each day — tap a day to open it — and the Week view is one card per day. See Using TBA on Your Phone.
