When a new company logs in for the first time, the Quick Start wizard walks you through the most important settings so you can start working quickly. None of it is permanent — every choice can be changed later from the Setup menu, which is always available at the top of the page.
Choose Your Color Theme #
TBA first asks you to pick the look you’d like to start with. Click a theme to select it and continue. You or any administrator can change it any time (see Color Themes Setup), and each person can choose their own (see My Color Theme and Preferences).
How Would You Like to Start? #
The wizard offers these choices:
- I’ll import my own data from QuickBooks Desktop — opens QuickBooks Import to bring in your chart of accounts, customers, vendors, items, and history.
- Start with default records — TBA sets up a starting chart of accounts, standard payment terms, and default departments for you. You can review or change them any time under G/L Accounts, Departments, and Payment Terms Setup.
- Pick up where you left off — shown if you started before and didn’t finish.
- Skip for now — go straight to the full Setup menu.
Setup Preferences #
Next come a few questions that shape how TBA works. If you aren’t sure about any, make a note and ask your accountant; you can change them later.
- Use Timeclock — Yes or No: do you want the built-in timeclock? See Timeclock and Kiosk.
- Account Numbers — use just account names, or account numbers with names.
- Negative Amounts — on financial reports, show negative numbers, or display them in the opposite column.
Then TBA takes you to Default G/L Settings, where you choose the accounts used for each routine activity (it can fill in sensible defaults in one click), and to General Options, where you enter your company information and logo.
Where You End Up #
When you finish, the wizard shows what to do next:
- Add your team — create logins for the people who will use TBA; see Users and Permissions.
- Add your first client — so you can start creating quotes, orders, and invoices; see Adding a New Client.
- Skip for now — go to the full Setup menu.
If you imported from QuickBooks, it also links back to the chart of accounts, customers, and vendors that were brought in, and lets you re-open QuickBooks Import.
Before you finish signing up, see Signing Up; once you are in, The Basics explains how to find your way around.
