TBA Foundation · Lesson 6 of 9 · about 2 hours
After this lesson you can #
- Tell an item from a service, and a lot from an item.
- Explain why items with history are archived, not deleted.
- Print a price tag.
- Say what a price change does and does not change.
Why it matters #
What you sell and stock is on every order, invoice and purchase order. Getting items right keeps prices, tax and inventory right everywhere else.

The big picture #
An item is something you sell or buy: a product or a service, with a price, a cost and a tax code. Stock items also have inventory lots: quantities received together, each with its own count and cost, so TBA knows how much is on hand and which batch an order came from. A price change affects new documents; issued invoices keep the price they were issued at. When an item has history you stop using it by archiving it, which keeps every old record intact. Price tags are designed once and printed from an item or an inventory lot.
Try it #
- Open an item and find its price, cost and tax code.
- Look at the lots of a stock item.
- Print a price tag.
Check yourself #
Can you say what a price change does and does not change, and why an item with history is archived? A practice quiz and certification exams are planned for a later release.
